Hey, Sugar! Sweets is as local as it gets. Founder and owner Chan Buie, a longtime East Village resident, discovered her passion for baking during her 20-year career in the U.S. Navy. She would bake cakes for her crewmates, who insisted her desserts were so good that she needed to sell them. After retiring, Chan turned her passion into a successful dessert distribution business. Today, she delivers hundreds of her signature desserts, including her famous Southern Cake Jars and banana puddings, to hotels, restaurants, and caterers.
